Have you heard the news? Tatcha UK is finally happening. The cult brand that’s beloved by A-listers Meghan Markle and Kim Kardashian (to name just a few), is now available to shop in the UK. It’s big news for the beauty industry and huge news for skincare obsessives.
Launching in the US back in 2009, Tatcha’s UK arrival has been a long time coming. The Japanese-inspired brand, that’s a best-seller in Sephora stores, is renowned for its gentle yet efficacious formulas that are brimming with plant-powered ingredients.
This in-demand brand has been the motivation behind many a beauty editor’s pilgramage to Sephora in recent years. But plane tickets are no longer required to snap up some of the best skincare products on the market as Tatcha is now available to shop online on these shores, and we’ve got all the intel.
Everything you need to know about Tatcha UK
What is Tatcha?
Founded by Vicky Tsai, Tatcha was born out of a sensitive skin condition—stress-induced dermatitis—that Tsai suffered from after years of working in a highly pressurized role in the corporate world. Struggling to find a skincare solution that worked, Tsai decided to launch her own skincare brand. Enter: Tacha.
Tsai, who is Taiwanese-American, drew inspiration from Japanese skincare after taking a trip to Kyoto where she encountered natural Japanese ingredients that helped to heal and restore her stressed-out skin. These ingredients—specifically rice, green tea and algae—now form the basis of Tatcha’s skincare line, a highly luxurious and curated collection of skincare essentials that are all formulated in Tokyo.
“We create our products like a couture dress,” says Tsai, “it can take us four years to develop a formula because sometimes we even grow the plant that’s needed.” The products are designed to suit every skin type and focus on supporting the skin barrier as opposed to overloading it with harsh, ‘trending’ ingredients.
And it’s this focus on non-irritating yet highly effective formulas with elegant textures that has proven so popular with beauty industry insiders and A-listers alike. From the award-winning Dewy Skin Cream (that’s also a Sephora best-seller) to the gentle Rice Polish exfoliator that’s beloved by Meghan Markle—prepare to upgrade your skincare routine with a Tatcha product, or two.
